Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)
Legislation in Nova Scotia requires every employer ensure that their employees who work with, or in proximity to, a controlled product is trained in the safe use, storage, handling and disposal of that product. The Workplace Hazardous Material Information System’s major components provide training on: WHMIS classes and symbols; Supplier/workplace labels; and Material Safety Data Sheets. In addition to the above, employers must also ensure their employees receive workplace specific training regarding the controlled products they use. Participants in this course will learn how to apply each aspect of the WHMIS Program.
